Do we really know where the oil we put on our plate comes from?

Recent findings by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) reveal that 33% of olive oils sold in Canada were deemed non-compliant with Canadian standards. These olive oils were reportedly adulterated, notably by blending with lower-quality oils.

The products concerned were also allegedly marketed under false claims, such as virgin or cold-pressed. This finding sheds light on a prevalent scam that Canadian consumers have faced for several years.

This news leads us to ask a simple question.

Do we really know where the oil we put on our plate comes from?

Quality and Transparency

In Quebec, however, we have an answer close at hand.

For several years, local producers have been cultivating high oleic sunflower, canola, camelina, flax, hemp, and pumpkin seeds. These seeds are harvested, cold-pressed, and bottled here in Quebec by family businesses that put their name on each of their bottles.

Each oil tells a story.

The story of a field.

The story of a family.

The story of expertise that deserves to be known.

Choosing an oil is not just about choosing a flavor. It's also about choosing quality and authenticity.

Quebec oils are virgin and first cold-pressed. This process naturally preserves the qualities of the seeds, their healthy unsaturated fats, their vitamin E, and the bioactive compounds specific to each variety. Each oil has its own personality, taste, and nutritional profile. They don't try to be alike: they complement each other.

We want to remind you that here, we produce oils of exceptional quality, with a transparency that few industries can offer.

The Huiles du Québec association guarantees the purity of the oils from its member producers.

Here, it's possible to meet the producer.

To walk through the fields.

To visit the oil mills.

To see the grain become oil.

This proximity inspires a trust that cannot be bought. It is built.

Local Riches

This summer, during the Champs Fleuris, we invite all Quebecers to discover this still too little-known wealth. Come and see our flowering crops, visit our facilities, and meet the women and men who work every day to offer local oils, produced with passion and rigor.

Quebec is proud of its maple syrup.

Quebec is proud of its cheeses.

Quebec is proud of its ciders, wines, and berries.

We believe that Huiles du Québec has everything it takes to become, like them, a source of pride for Quebecers!

Because, beyond their quality, they represent our agriculture, our expertise, our food autonomy, and our ability to process what we grow here.

The best response to food fraud is not just to read labels better.

It's also about rediscovering the riches that grow here.

We are all members of Huiles du Québec, a new association of Quebec producers/processors. It is the union of producer-processors driven by a common desire: to cultivate, press, and offer you the best first cold-pressed vegetable oils, 100% from Quebec.

Huiles du Québec...

Cultivated here. Pressed here. Proudly local.
