A local plant with ancient origins

Camelina, whose Latin name is Camelina sativa , is an oilseed plant that grows very well in the Quebec climate. It has been cultivated for over 3,000 years in Europe and Asia for its oil and seeds. Long forgotten, without having disappeared, it is making a strong comeback in our fields and on our plates, and with good reason! A fascinating story, as this tiny seed has passed through time without becoming too well known, nor disappearing, fortunately.

Why is camelina so interesting? Camelina oil is a champion for the quality of its nutritional properties, in addition to being grown in Quebec.
